Dear Students:

2021 School Calendar
Lone Star Phlebotomy offers a 5-week phlebotomy course ( 6 week course beginning January 1,2020) and a 4 week EKG/Monitor Tech course ( 5 week course beginning January 1,2020).Classes are two days a week. Either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Our morning session is 10:00-1:00 and evening session is 6:30-9:30. Each session will include 90 minutes of classroom instruction and 90 minutes of hands on lab instruction. Each student will perform several blood draws per class or EKG's as well as practice lab safety procedures. All lab procedures are supervised by our certified instructors.
Phlebotomy: is derived from the Greek words "phleb" which means "vein" and "tomy" which means the "to make an incision of". Therefore, Phlebotomy is the incision of vein for the removal of blood. Usually done with an evacuated needle, syringe, or other container for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. At Lone Star Phlebotomy, you will learn the skills necessary to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
Electrocardiography: is a noninvasive procedure which measures and records the activity of the heart, by tracing and printing the electrical impulses the heart transmits. These tracings are used to evaluate the function of the heart, pacemakers, diagnose heart disease, record progress of patients or analyze changes of a patient's heart. At Lone Star Phlebotomy, you will learn the skills necessary to become a Certified EKG/Monitor Technician.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support "BLS"
In cardiac arrest, every second counts. A cardiac arrest can happen anywhere at anytime. Every minute CPR is delayed, decreases a victims chance of survival by 10%. At Lone Star Phlebotomy you will learn the tools necessary to perform high quality CPR and defibrillation using an AED, choking relief, and the role of each link in the chain of survival. You will learn to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants. As a Healthcare Provider you will need this skill to find employment.
This is a ONE day 3 hour class.
